Going green!

At Bornholm Distillery our ambition is for you to smell and taste the spirit of Bornholm in every drop. Our production of aquavit, gin and brandies are made by the finest local ingredients and with the deepest respect for the environment and local nature.

Therefore we have joined the EU-funded project Bæredygtig Bundlinje Bornholm - ‘Sustainable Bottom Line Bornholm’. The project is managed by Gate 21 and it seeks to implement green business models in the island. NIRAS participates in the project to secure that the local businesses get the maximum amount of sustainability for their investments.

Our project has resulted in 11 potential improvements, which we work on implementing every day.

The biggest project is a new steam heated distillation apparatus, that will give us an 25% reduction in our energy consumption and tripple our capacity.
